QNAP Turbo NAS Supports VMware VAAI and
vSphere Client Plug-in, Windows Server 2012, and Enhances AFP Performance
QNAP® Systems, Inc. today
announced highly anticipated business features, including VMware VAAI and
vSphere Client Plug-in for business virtualization enhancement, the official
certification for Windows® Server 2012, and AFP performance
enhancement on small file transfer.
The support of VMware VAAI, featuring Full
copy, Block zeroing and Hardware-assisted locking, enables data processing
offloaded to the Turbo NAS to increase work efficiency. The support of vSphere
Client Plug-in allows managing VMware datastores on the Turbo NAS directly from
the vSphere Client console, greatly improving productivity of management of
multiple virtual machines. “With these supports, the Turbo NAS becomes a more
effective storage in virtualization solution and excels in increasing
productivity on managing a great number of virtual machines for IT staffs,”
said Jérôme Jaussaud, product manager of QNAP. VMware VAAI and vSphere Client
Plug-in are supported by TS-x79, TS-x70, and TS-x69 series.
Besides, the selected Turbo NAS series are
officially certified for Windows Server 2012, including TS-x79, TS-x70, and
TS-x69 series. The combination of QNAP Turbo NAS and Windows Server 2012
creates a cost-effective infrastructure, physically and virtually, for
businesses. Businesses can particularly enjoy the boosted performance, pleasing
flexibility, management efficiency in various virtualization applications with
the compatibility of Windows Server 2012.
The Turbo NAS lineup supports AFP (Apple
Filing Protocol), enabling Mac computers to connect to the NAS. Now the APF
performance on small file transfer is improved with increasing rate as much as
38% in read and 152% in write depending on the processor platform. “The
enhanced performance is beneficial to speed up file transfer. Users can
experience the apparently smooth work and the improved efficiency when using
AFP,” said Jason Hsu, product manager of QNAP.
