(1) AAEON Announces the Palm-sized PICO-HD01, a Dazzling Fanless Pico-ITX
Board with Great Graphics Performance for Smart Devices with Video Requirements
AAEON, a leading industrial computing manufacturer, today announced the
addition of the PICO-HD01 to its Pico-ITX board family. With onboard AMD®
G-Series™ processors which offer great graphics and 3D performance, the
PICO-HD01 is an excellent choice for smart small form factor devices that
delivers high quality video, including those used in Building Automation and
Automated Pill Dispensers. It could also be easily built into tiny fanless
Din-Rail devices for Factory Automation and Utilities. With a selection of
low power onboard AMD® G-Series™ T40E/T40R Dual/Single core processors, along
with the AMD® A50M controller hub, the PICO-HD01 delivers superb graphics
performance and hardware acceleration at relatively low power, and supports
DirectX®11, OpenGL 4.0 and OpenCL™ 1.1, making 3D visual effects and dynamic
interactivity better than before.
Based on the 10cm x 7.2cm Pico-ITX form factor, the AAEON PICO-HD01
combines a rich I/O set with great multimedia performance and low power,
supporting a mini-HDMI interface (audio/video) and onboard 18-bit single
channel LVDS. The PICO-HD01 supports DDR3 1066MHz SODIMM up to a maximum
of 4GB of memory, one VGA, one SATA 3.0Gb/s, two COM ports, five USB2.0 ports,
one 4-bit programmable DIO interface, 2-channel High Definition Audio with
Audio Buzzer, one Gigabit LAN port and one is powered by a 12V DC input.
It also has a half size Mini Card expansion slot that can be configured through
BIOS setting to support either half size mSATA for storage/OS or Mini PCI
Express expansion modules.
The PICO-HD01 is a small and fanless board making it easy to embed into
a myriad of smart devices,” says Joe Lin, Product Manager of AAEON’s Embedded
Computer Division. “Smart devices connecting to the Cloud need to be small and
often need an interactive human interface, and that’s where the PICO-HD01 with
its advantageous smaller size comes into play,” he adds.
Whenever Microsoft® Windows® platform is used, customers can easily
create their own user interface without additional coding simply by downloading
the AAEON-developed Hi-Safe program. AAEON offers customization services
for system developers, and supports all common operating systems such as
Windows® XP, Windows® 7 and Linux Fedora.
Status Monitoring using Hi-Safe
AAEON Hi-Safe is a free and powerful hardware-based program geared
toward SDKs for UIs running Microsoft® Windows® Operating systems. It
provides an easy way to develop the end user’s own UI software to monitor vital
system information such as those for the processor, RAM and VGA. It
monitors received data from the Super I/O, fan, temperature and voltage, offers
configuration options for Digital I/O pin direction and data, provides watchdog
timer and fan speed settings, SMBus base address detection and device ID
settings, optional monitoring of UPS data information and offers two modes for
backlight display control if one uses the LVDS interface. Based on the
user interface SDK, no coding is needed and customers can create their own
customized user interface by downloading the function codes provided by AAEON.
